Icon Action Card
An action card is one that does something. This card changes shape and makes a neat little "thwick" sound when you open it. It's super-easy to make, and would be great for inviting friends to a ReBoot-themed party or thanking someone for that complete set of Season Three DVDs they sent you for Arbor Day.

YOU'LL NEED:

  • A printed copy of this card pattern
  • Yellow and black construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Clear tape
  • Something to write on your card with (metallic gel pens are nice if you want to write on the black part)

TO MAKE THE CARD:

1. Print the card pattern onto a piece of plain paper. Cut it out.

2. Trace the pattern onto the yellow and black sheets of construction paper, and cut out the shapes. The dashed line on the pattern shows where there should be a slit on each piece. (Don't forget to make the slits, or your card won't work at all!)

3. Slide the yellow and black pieces together so the slits interlock.

Step 3

4. Put a piece of tape along the seam between the black triangle and the yellow half-circle. (The area outlined in red below.)

Step 4

5. Flip the card over, and write your "To:" information on the yellow triangle.

Step 5

6. Open the card by pulling the two half-circles apart. You'll hear the little "thwick" sound, and the card will flatten out. The outside will transform into an icon, and you can write your message on the inside.
