Super Viral Pocket Shrine
Fiendish viral mission have you away from the Supercomputer? Worship your lady while you're on the go with this sparkly, portable shrine to Daemon.

If you have any trouble understanding the directions, I highly recommend you look at the pictures of the finished shrine. They should help you out a lot.

YOU'LL NEED:

  • an empty Altoids (or similar) tin
  • metallic purple spray enamel
  • one printout of "Daemon in Mainframe"
  • two printouts of "Daemon floating"
  • clear Con-Tact paper (or other self-stick laminating sheet)
  • rhinestones
  • rub-on letters or a metallic paint pen
  • teal wire
  • self-stick holographic film
  • small angel-style wings
  • tea light candles
  • strong glue
  • scissors

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Bend back the hinges of the tin so you can remove the lid. Give the outside of the tin a good coat of metallic purple spray enamel. Remember to cover your work area, or risk having little purple spots everywhere. (I didn't love Daemon quite enough to sand or prime the tin, but maybe your faith is stronger than mine.)

2. While the paint dries, print out one copy of "Daemon in Mainframe" and two copies of "Daemon floating." Cover all of your printouts with clear Con-Tact paper. (Yes, you can remove the Cartoon Network bug easily enough with an image-editing program. But I actually liked having it on my shrine.)

3. Cut the "Daemon in Mainframe" image into a 2-inch circle, with Daemon in the center.
Cut one copy of the "Daemon floating" image out along the border of the image (so it's just a rectangle).
With the other copy of the "Daemon floating" image, cut away the background so you're left with just Daemon.

4. Glue the the "Daemon in Mainframe" circle to the outside of the tin's lid. Glue twelve rhinestones around the circle (where the numbers on a clock would be).

5. Use rub-on letters or a metallic pen to put a Daemon-y quote on the outside of the tin's lid. I used "There is no past, there is no future. There is only the WORD." I also stuck in a rhinestone as the "O" in "WORD." (Any excuse to use more rhinestones is a good excuse.)

6. Cut pieces of holographic film to fit the inside of the tin's lid and the inside bottom of the tin. Stick them in place, and rub out any air bubbles. (I used silver film inside the lid and green film on the inside bottom, but you can use whatever colors you want.)

7. Glue the "Daemon floating" image you cut out as a rectangle onto the inside of the lid. Glue a pair of small angel wings on top of that, centering them a little below Daemon's shoulders. (I had to clip my wings a little to make them fit, but they still worked out fine.)

8. Glue the Daemon you cut out from the other "Daemon floating" printout on top of the wings. Glue the ends of her arms and torso to match up with the arms and torso on the image below. Let her head "float" above the background. (I actually glued a little piece of craft foam behind her head to make sure it wouldn't bend back down.)

9. Glue rhinestones all around the rectangular "Daemon floating" picture as a border. (See? Any excuse.) You can also add Daemon's name with rub-on letters or metallic pen, if you'd like.

10. Bend four pieces of teal wire into curlicues like the ones on Daemon's clothing and jewelry. Glue a curlicue to each side of the tin, but make sure they won't interfere with putting the lid back on.

11. You can just bend the hinges back in place to reattach the lid, but I wanted to adjust the way the lid stood up when the tin was open. So I bent the hinges into the tin, and used another wire curlicue to reattach the lid to the tin.

12. Toss in a couple tea lights, and you're set! (Use a glowstick or mini-flashlight if you're not responsible enough to be trusted with candles. I'm sure Daemon wouldn't approve of your accidentally creating a firewall.)

the finished product

You can tuck the shrine into your pocket or bag. That way it'll always be with you when you need a little time to meditate on your lady's greatness.
